What's so great about gratitude?

Practicing gratitude is as easy as saying thank you for the good things that happen to you. Start making it a daily habit and you’ll begin to observe some pretty amazing results.

Click below to learn about some of the positive benefits of gratitude:

Simply journaling for five minutes a day about what we are grateful for can enhance our long-term happiness by over 10% (Emmons & McCullough, 2003).

Gratitude can help you feel better about your circumstances, which can lead to feeling better about yourself. Participants who completed a four-week gratitude contemplation program reported greater life satisfaction and self-esteem than control group participants (Rash, Matsuba, & Prkachin, 2011).

Expressing gratitude to our friends can improve our friendships. These people are more likely to work through problems and concerns with their friends and have a more positive perception of their friends (Lambert & Fincham, 2011).
Gratitude can help people find meaning in their job. When you have meaning and purpose in your work you are often more effective and more fulfilled throughout your career.(Dik, Duffy, Allan, O’Donnell, Shim, & Steger, 2015).

Answers to our most frequently asked questions below:

Each lesson has two components – a reflection and an action. The reflection will take no longer than a few minutes. The action may take a little bit longer and will usually require you to plan in advance.

Nothing! I would love it if you’re able to complete each lesson on consecutive days, but the course won’t disappear and you’ll be able to access the lessons any time you want.

No! I’m passionate about gratitude and think every educator needs to make this a part of their daily routine.

We’re encouraging all people taking the course to take advantage of the comments section in each lesson. A good starting point would be to share aspects of your reflection and any outcome from the action you took.
